Our Mission
Responsibilities of the Council of the Pedagogical Section of North America:
- Maintaining the continuity with the historical and esoteric roots of Waldorf education.
- Cultivating awareness of new impulses arising in the Waldorf movement and facilitating their expression.
- Helping with the foundation of new schools and with the nurturing of appropriate social, pedagogical and administrative organization in existing schools; aiding in the founding of a College of Teachers.
- Maintaining connections with the international Waldorf school movement in general and with the Pedagogical Section in Dornach and the International Forum (Hague Circle) in particular.
- Forming a leadership and coordination organ for the members of the Pedagogical Section in North America.
- Facilitating anthroposophical pedagogical research and its dissemination by publications, conferences, etc.
- Stimulating training of new teachers and helping the professional development of existing ones.

Areas of Responsibility for the Chair of the Pedagogical Section Council

The Chair of the Pedagogical Section Council, in concert with its members, is responsible for fostering and coordinating the following functions of the Council:
- Oversee the activities of the Pedagogical Section
- Provide leadership in the work of the Section Council
- Represent the Section in the Waldorf/anthroposophical arena:
establish regular communications with other sections of the Anthroposophical Society and anthroposophical organizations,
as well as with teacher training programs and Waldorf teachers
in public and independent schools - Serve as primary liaison between the Section Council and the Executive Team of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America
- Act as spokesman for the Section in the wider circles of education
- Coordinate the editing of the Pedagogical Section’s newsletter
- Serve as resource for Waldorf Education and individual Waldorf schools
- Foster research projects and other new ventures
- Stimulate interest, new memberships in the Section
- Develop further sources of financial support for the Section
